Recital - Rehearsal Rules

 1.      Please try to have your child seated on time so that we may begin promptly. This is not a dress rehearsal.  The rehearsals and recitals will begin at times stated previously.

 2.      No food or drink is allowed in the auditorium or surrounding hallways. We suggest bringing a snack but you must eat it outside. Samford usually sells concessions in the basement level.  Please be sure to clean up afterwards. Rehearsal takes longer than recital please bring a few toys to help keep children occupied.

 3.      All students and mothers are requested to sit in the back of the auditorium until your child’s performances are finished.  Frequent coming and going distracts the dancers on stage and is rude to those seated around you. Do not leave during a number; simply wait until the number is finished.

 4.      At no time shall a student enter the audience in costume or tap shoes ---Please wear a cover-up!

 5.      You are responsible for dressing your child at the recital.  Please be dressed and ready in your dressing room 10 numbers in advance of your child’s number. Stage moms are to keep the class in the dressing room until someone comes to get you. Sorry, due to girls dressing no dads are permitted backstage.

 6.      While waiting in the dressing room, it is imperative that the children remain quiet so as not to disturb what is happening on stage.  Also Stage Moms please do not allow the children to run in the dressing rooms.  This is dangerous, especially with slippery tap shoes.

 7.      We do allow small video cameras to be used from your seat. Please be courteous to those around you.

 8.      Please be sure to bring all costumes and accessories to recital.

 9.      After your child’s number is over, please return promptly to the dressing room to pick up your child. Remember only females are allowed in dressing rooms and only Stage Moms are allowed backstage.  Stage moms…THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

 10.  Please secure all headpieces so that they will not fall off.  Use elastic and lots of bobby pins!!

 11.  If you’re receiving a trophy be backstage during the last three #’s. There is no need to rehearse this.

 12.  We cannot be responsible for lost program book coupons.   In the event you misplace or forget your coupon you may purchase one for $5.00.   There will be no replacement coupons given this year.   If your recital package is missing a coupon you must let us know before leaving with the package.

 13.  There is no need to stay for the entire rehearsal.  You may leave after your numbers are finished.  However, we do encourage everyone to stay and enjoy the recital because the children have worked so hard for this performance.  Not only might you find it entertaining, but it can also be inspiring to students and parents alike to see the different levels of dance that can be achieved
