What shoes are required?

Listed below are the required shoes for each subject. If you would like to explore our subjects further, click here!

Yes, we sell shoes and dance wear in our office! We can size you down to the half size for your perfect fit. If we do not have your size in stock, we can order it for you.

After purchasing new shoes, we highly recommend using a Sharpie to add your dancer’s name or initials to the inside or bottom. Not only are shoes often left behind by children of all ages, but they can be easily mixed up when everyone is wearing the same thing!

Wondering what color shoe to get? This is unknown at the very beginning of the year, but will be announced by the end of October along with your costumes. If for any reason your shoe is not the required color - no worries! We would never expect you to purchase a new pair. We sell special shoe paint!

“Mommy & Me”

If you would like to invest in a pair of dance shoes for your little one, ballet shoes would be great. Or, you may send them in a pair of sneakers or similar shoe until you’re sure dance is something your little one will continue with.

Combo - (Jazz & Tap)

Preschool through 5-7 aged combo classes will need ballet and tap shoes. Beginning at ages 6-9, ballet is then offered as its own separate, hour long class. Therefore, combo becomes strictly jazz and tap at this age with no ballet included. So, ages 6-9 and up will need jazz and tap shoes.

Ballet & Pointe

Ballet classes will need a pair of ballet shoes. If you are approached by one of our ballet instructors about going en pointe, they can help you to select pointe shoes when your dancer is ready.

Acro

Acro classes will be conducted in bare feet.

Hip Hop

Your dancer can wear any pair of sneakers to hip hop class. For recital, each class will be provided with matching sneakers along with their costume.

Lyrical

For recital, lyrical classes will be required to wear half-soles. If you do not have these at the beginning of the year, and would like to wait until closer to recital to purchase them, ballet or jazz shoes may be worn until then.

Musical Theatre

Musical Theatre students may wear a pair of jazz shoes to class. If another shoe is required for the recital performance in order to best portray a character, this will be announced along with the costume in October.

Clogging

Clogging shoes are required for clogging classes and may be purchased at Carl’s Clogging Supplies.

Danceline Prep

Please send your dancer in a pair of jazz shoes to danceline prep class.

Baton

Please send your dancer in a pair of jazz shoes to baton class. You will also need to purchase a baton. We recommend this Mini Major baton with a 7/16" shaft (or 3/8" if your size is unavailable in 7/16). The length needed is equivalent to the measurement in inches from your armpit to fingertip.

Colorguard

Weather permitting, our colorguard classes will be held outside. So, your dancer may come in a pair of tennis shoes. They will also need to provide their own flag. Please reach out to your school’s auxillary sponsor about buying a flag.
